The Future of Flamingo Heights [Mar. 1st, 2008|09:57 pm]
Fandango High School

[pockythoughts]
[Current Mood |hopefulhopeful]

So as we all know, there has been a lot of chaos and confusion in the roleplay this weekend, and the future of our beloved Florida community is currently in doubt. To clarify for anyone who has not been around, the basics are these:

- On Friday, Jabbers and Naru announced that they were leaving the game and stepping down as mods. Stars and Rae stepped up to replace them and were granted maintainership of the high school. (Maintainership. Is that a word?)

- On Saturday, Mer ended the Flamingo University roleplay when Captain Planet inadvertantly destroyed the University campus. No characters were harmed in the explosion unless their muns want them to be. She has stepped down as mod.

- Several people have used this time of transition as an opportunity to change their involvement in the game by adding, changing, dropping characters or leaving the game entirely.

Despite all this, a lot of us want the Flamingo Heights tradition to continue in some way, both in the sense of RP and in the sense of the community and friendships we've formed. The chats and the friendships can continue, no problem, but rebuilding the RP will take some work. Work that I'd like everyone's input on. So I'd appreciate it if anyone who's still interested in continuing answered the following questions:

1) If given the choice of continuing to use the existing fandangohigh, flamingo_u and bonapartejrhigh comms with new mods or consolidating to one flamingoheights community, which would you prefer?

2) If given the choice of resetting the game completely or beginning the new game with our current characters' memories of past relationships and events intact, which would you prefer?

EDIT: Pocky m so smrt, I just realized there's a win-win scenario for question 2. Giving people the OPTION of resetting their characters only if they want to. *facepalm* How's that sound to folks?

Thanks everyone for your input and I'd just like to say that in spite of all that's happened, my relationships with all of you are important to me and I'd like them to continue just as I'd like the game to continue. If I personally have offended any of you during this weekend or earlier, I apologize. This is an emotional time, but if we can all let go of our anger, put the past behind us and look toward the future with some maturity and an open mind, I believe we can make this work.

...Why do I keep sounding like Relena today?

I am fine with either method with the community, but if it ends up getting modded by the same people it'd make most sense to merge them all.

And I would like to retain all of my character's memories.

I like option one, personally. Too much work has gone into the characters so far.

I'd like to help rebuild/restart Flammy, if I can.

Oh, and I'm more for option one.

I'd like to see a general Flamingo Heights community, I think.

And I refuse to have any of my characters' memories wiped. I don't want to start over again, in that sense. I've put so much into some of them, and learned so much about them, that it would be hard to restart them now.

As for the first question, either would be fine I suppose. There's really no bad part of either, and with all the drops and such, we really need to just wipe our friends lists and start over by this point XP

As for the second I really don't want my characters minds wiped. I just love Kakashi and Yuuko too much for that. And the the others as well :D

And I'll say again, I may only be around at night, but I really have no other life yea, I'm that pathetic , and would be more than happy to help with modding if more mods are needed.

1) I think making a flamingoheights community sounds better, mostly because it allows alot of freedom to try new things if we wanted to. If we still want to keep the three institutions divided even after making the flamingoheights comm, we could make it so instead of just making individuals comms for each building, we can make individual accounts for each institute, like... fanny_staff, flammy_staff, bonny_staff, and they could serve to do announcements or events and such for their respective institutes... Of course, this is just my opinion.

2) Personally, I think a memory reset would work better, just as a way to do a fresh start, you know? Then again, both options sound good, so it's hard to pick one without there being drawbacks... I just think resetting would work better if only because new things could happen.

Like i said though, I'm not dead-set on my side for number 2, since both sound good. It's number 1 I'm more personally concerned about, if only because organization is key for me...

I agree with Saria, if all fanny end up being modded by the same people, it would make sense to merge them all.

And characters memories... I'd like to keep them.

I think merging them all into one community would be best. That seems a lot easier, and it would open things dramatically in the sense that we could allow people to create new areas, have more job fields, and just in general have more places to go. Like it'd be neat to even create a map--ask everyone what kind of places they'd like to see then create a locations list of it. Broadening our horizons to more than just schools may attract more new people as well.

As for the second, well seems you've already solved that.

*huggles* You've been putting so much work into this, Pocks, you're awesome.

Ha; Tiger and I were talking about how we should have a list of all the locations in Flamingo Heights yesterday. A map might be complicated, but we could at least compile a list of places and things, for future reference.

Awesome :3 But yea, if the end decision is to go with a compiled community that'd be great \o/

It's funny you should mention that, because I have wanted a map of Flamingo Heights for the longest time. ^^;; Now if only there was a way to do to that wouldn't result in me tearing my hair out.

*is huggled* I just don't want to see all of this disappear. This place has been my escape from reality and my new home on the internet. If that makes me awesome...well, thanks. ^^ <3

1. It wouldn't bother me either way.

2. ...I Don't really have an opinion on wiping my character's memories, though it might be easier that way..

I would prefer option 1. I also like the idea of being able to go into the community as well and not just the schools. I am still debating on how I will adjust my characters, if I want them to start fresh or not.
